Kebbi Governor vows to tackle insecurity after deadly bandits attack

Kebbi State Governor, Dr. Nasir Idris, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to strengthening security in Ba-jiza and Rausa Kade villages, Arewa Local Government Area, following a violent bandit attack that left six people dead.

During his visit to the affected communities on Saturday, Idris expressed his condolences to the families of the victims and vowed to enhance security measures to prevent future occurrences.

“I will ensure that the security architecture of the area becomes more effective and efficient to prevent future attacks,” the governor said.

He emphasized that his administration is determined to restore peace and protect lives and property across Kebbi State, adding that collaboration with security agencies and neighboring states remains a priority.

“As part of our efforts to strengthen security in this area, we will work closely with the Sokoto State government and security agencies to ensure that criminals have no hiding place,” he stated.

In addition to security measures, the governor approved the construction of three motorized boreholes, two in Ba-jiza and one in Rausa Kade to provide clean water for residents.

“To further support these communities, I have approved the construction of three motorized boreholes to alleviate the water scarcity challenges faced by residents,” he announced.

Governor Idris also directed the immediate completion of an uncompleted mosque in Rausa Kade, instructing the Local Government Chairman to ensure its completion within two weeks.

The Chairman of Arewa Local Government, Hon. Sani Aliyu, commended the governor for his swift intervention and assured residents of continued government support.

“We appreciate the prompt response of the governor and the security agencies who are working tirelessly to restore peace in our communities,” Aliyu said.

Recall that suspected bandits on Thursday ambushed and killed six members of a local vigilante group in Matankari Forest, Kebbi State, after they attempted to recover stolen cattle.
