Berta emerges top candidate to become Arsenal’s new sporting director after Edu’s exit

Andrea Berta is now the top candidate to become new Arsenal director in order to replace Edu at the Premier League North London club.

This was disclosed by football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano in a tweet via his X account on Monday.

Media Talk Africa reports that Arsenal are still reeling from Edu’s shock departure from the club in November, 2024.

The Gunners are hoping to appoint his replacement this month.

Berta, alongside the likes of Real Sociedad’s Roberto Olabe, former Arsenal player Tomas Rosicky, Dan Ashworth, who recently left Manchester United, are all linked with the job.

Jason Ayto has been holding fort the position on an interim basis at the moment.

Providing an update, Romano said talks are already in advance stage for

“Understand Andrea Berta is now the top candidate to become new Arsenal director in order to replace Edu,” Romano tweeted.

“Discussions already took place, Berta left Atlético after building the team with key signings in the recent years.

“Talks at advanced stage, not done/sealed yet.”

Berta was the sporting director at Spanish LaLiga club, Atletico Madrid.
