Police disburse N11m to families of 3 deceased officers in Kogi

The Kogi State Police Command has disbursed cheques worth N11,245,379.35 under the Group Life Assurance and IGP Family Welfare Schemes to the families of three fallen police officers who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to the nation.

Kogi State Police Public Relations Officer SP William Ovye Aya disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday.

Aya stated that the cheques were presented to the bereaved families as part of the ongoing commitment of the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, and the Police Force Welfare Scheme to provide financial support and relief to the families of officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty.

“This initiative is aimed at ensuring that the families of fallen heroes are not left behind and helping them cope with the financial burdens that often arise in the wake of such unfortunate events,” the statement added.

The police spokesperson explained that the presentation ceremony was attended by senior police officers from the Kogi State Police Command, along with the bereaved families, who expressed their gratitude for the gesture. They noted that the support provides not only financial relief but also a sense of security during a difficult time.

According to the statement: “The Kogi State Police Command reiterates its commitment to the welfare of officers and their families. Through the Group Life Assurance Scheme and the IGP Family Welfare Scheme, the Command aims to continue offering assistance to the families of officers who fall in the line of duty, ensuring that their sacrifices are recognised and that their families are provided with the necessary resources to maintain their well-being.”
