EPL: Rooney reveals Arteta’s biggest mistake at Arsenal

Manchester United legend, Wayne Rooney has revealed the ‘biggest mistake’ Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta has made during his time in charge of the Premier League North London club.

Arsenal’s hope of winning the Premier League title this season is all-but over as they currently sit in second position with 13 points behind leaders Liverpool.

Arteta’s side have repeatedly challenged for the English-top flight league over the past three seasons.

They finished in second position twice behind Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City side in the last two seasons.

Asked if signing a striker will be Arsenal’s priority at the end of the season, Rooney said on Amazon Prime Video: “Yeah, you would think so.

“Not getting a striker in the summer was the biggest mistake I think.

“Getting players in January is always difficult. It is difficult to get the right players for the right price.”

Arteta was appointed Arsenal’s manager in December, 2019.

The Spaniard failed to sign a top striker for Arsenal last summer transfer window.
