Macron’s nuclear rhetoric, threat to Russia – Sergei Lavrov

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has said that French President Emmanuel Macron’s nuclear rhetoric poses a threat to Russia.

Lavrov said this while commenting on a speech on Wednesday in which Macron said he was considering placing European allies under the protection of France’s nuclear arsenal.

“If he considers us a threat, convenes a meeting of the chiefs of general staff of European countries and Britain, says it is necessary to use nuclear weapons, prepares to use nuclear weapons against Russia, this is, of course, a threat,” Lavrov was quoted by state news agency RIA as saying on Thursday.

Recall that Macron had warned that beyond Ukraine, the Russian threat is real – it affects the ‘European countries.’

The French leader also raised the possibility of extending France’s nuclear umbrella to protect allies in Europe.

Meanwhile, Russia and Ukraine have been fighting for the past three years and several casualties have been recorded as of today.
