Victor Osimhen, the 24‑year‑old Nigerian striker for Napoli, left the pitch during the club’s 2‑0 win over Sassuolo, prompting concern among fans. Substituted in the 84th minute at the Mapei Stadium, he appeared uneasy, gesturing to his thigh and grimacing while speaking with Napoli staff. Supporters immediately feared a serious injury that might keep him out of the upcoming Champions League round‑of‑16 tie against Eintracht Frankfurt.

To calm the anxiety, Osimhen responded to a fan’s question on Twitter, writing, “Nothing like that my brother, I’m ok,” and confirming that the issue was minor. At the same time, many supporters expressed frustration with Napoli head coach Luciano Spalletti, questioning why the striker had not been withdrawn earlier in the second half. Similar criticism was aimed at the timing of Khvicha Kvaratskhelia’s substitution in the 78th minute, with fans feeling that key players should have been protected from injury sooner.
