Akpabio: Three key consequences of Sen Natasha’s suspension by Nigerian Senate

Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central, was suspended by the Nigerian Senate on Thursday.

Media Talk Africa reports that her suspension follows recommendations from the Senate Committee.

This comes after a face-off between Sen. Natasha and Senate President Godswill Akpabio over seating arrangements.

Media Talk Africa outlines three key consequences of Natasha’s suspension:

Natasha’s suspension is to last for six months. During this period, she will not be receiving a salary.

The senator will not be allowed within the premises of the National Assembly while her suspension lasts.

Her security details will be withdrawn.

Recall that the face-off intensified when Natasha accused Akpabio of victimization after her refusal of his alleged sexual advances.

However, on Wednesday, Akpabio described the allegation as false and baseless.

Earlier, the Senate Committee on Ethics, Rules, and Code of Conduct invited Natasha, but she failed to appear on Monday.

During Thursday’s plenary, Senator Natasha resubmitted her petition against Senate President Akpabio.

Reacting, the Senate pledged to investigate her petition.
