Taraba police arrest suspect with AK-47 rifle, launch investigation

The Taraba State Police Command has arrested a suspect found in possession of an AK-47 rifle and 25 rounds of live ammunition.

According to a statement made available to journalists in the state on Saturday by the Command’s spokesperson, Usman Abdullahi, the arrest was carried out by officers from the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), led by ASP Yakubu Adamu Bubble.

“Acting on credible intelligence, the team, in collaboration with local hunters and vigilante groups, apprehended the suspect, identified as Yusufa Isah, in Funawo Village near Tella town, Gassol Local Government Area,” he stated.

He said during the operation, police recovered an AK-47 rifle with breech number A1808M, 25 rounds of live ammunition, and some charms in the suspect’s possession.

Commending the officers involved, Taraba State Commissioner of Police, Chukwudi C. Ariekpere, reiterated the Command’s commitment to tackling crime and ensuring the safety of residents.

He also ordered a thorough investigation to track down other members of the suspected syndicate.
