U-20 AFCON: World Cup berth, eighth title is our target — Flying Eagles midfielder, Daga

Flying Eagles midfielder, Daniel Daga has revealed the team’s ambition ahead of their opening fixture against Senegal at the 2023 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations.

Aside from the ultimate prize which is the trophy, the top four teams in Egypt will represent Africa at the 2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Indonesia later in the year.

Daga, who plays in the Nigeria Premier Football League for Dakkada Football Club of Uyo, has his sights on a World Cup berth and a record extending eighth title.

“We are proud to be in Egypt for this great tournament and we want to qualify for the FIFA World Cup and win the tournament,” he told a pre-match press conference ahead of the clash against the Young Teranga Lions.

Egypt will take on Mozambique in the tournament’s opening game also on Sunday (today).

The Nigeria versus Senegal game will kick-off at 6pm.
