Kansas City Chiefs’ Xavier Worthy arrested for assault

Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Xavier Worthy was arrested for assault on Friday night.

According to the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office jail records, Worthy was charged with “ASSAULT FAM/HOUSE MEM IMPEDE BREATH/CIRCULAT.”

The offence is a third-degree felony assault charge, which is committed by intentionally or recklessly impeding a person’s normal breathing or blood circulation by blocking their nose or applying pressure to their neck.

The offence carries a sentence of two to 10 years in prison and or a fine not exceeding $10,000.

“We are aware and gathering information,” the Kansas City Chiefs said in a statement on Saturday.

Meanwhile, this marks the second consecutive offseason in which a Chiefs player has faced legal trouble.

In April last year, wide receiver Rashee Rice was arrested for his involvement in a multi-car crash while racing a Lamborghini in northeast Dallas.
