Man Utd in talks to sign Mateta

Manchester United have opened talks to sign Crystal Palace striker Jean-Philippe Mateta.

Mateta has enjoyed another fruitful season for Crystal Palace.

He has netted eight goals since the turn of the year, including two goals in Crystal Palace’s win at Old Trafford in Januay

However, according to L’Équipe, negotiations are already underway with the Eagles reluctantly ready to sanction the Mateta’s departure.

Man United manager, Ruben Amorim will be desperate to bolster his attacking line in the summer given the uncertainty surrounding Marcus Rashford’s future and the struggles of Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee.

Mateta is currently recovery from his significant ear injury in time to face Fulham in their FA Cup quarter-final clash later this month.

The 27-year-old required 25 stitches to repair his lacerated left ear after he was kicked in the head by Millwall goalkeeper Liam Roberts during both teams’ FA Cup tie.
