Zamfara bandits reportedly relocate to Kwara state

Following sustained offensives by local vigilantes, armed bandits who had been terrorizing Bukuyum Local Government Area (LGA) of Zamfara State have reportedly moved their base to Bani town in Kwara State.

Sources with knowledge of the situation informed Zagazola Makama that a detained militant, arrested in Kyaram community by vigilante forces, provided critical intelligence regarding the group’s latest movements and operational structure.

The bandits, notorious for orchestrating numerous attacks in Zamfara, have faced severe setbacks due to increased military pressure.

According to the sources, while many fighters have been eliminated or forced into hiding, the gang’s top commanders and remaining members have retreated to Kwara State, leaving behind a weakened network in Bukuyum.

However, despite their losses, they are still armed with dangerous weapons and substantial ammunition.

Security experts caution that the relocation of these insurgents to Kwara introduces a new security threat, emphasizing the urgency of enhanced surveillance and expanded counterterrorism operations beyond Zamfara’s borders.
