A bit of stupidity – Declan Rice slams Arsenal teammates after Man Utd draw

Arsenal midfielder Declan Rice has claimed that “a bit of stupidity” could have cost the team a defeat against Manchester United on Sunday.

Rice rescued a point for the Gunners at Old Trafford after Bruno Fernandes had opened the scoring with a stunning free-kick.

Although David Raya’s positioning for Fernandes’ goal has been criticised in several quarters, the Spaniard produced a number of excellent saves to ensure Arsenal secured a point.

“I think in the first half we had some beautiful bits of play but lacked that clinical cutting edge.

“Then, in the second half, we did things we haven’t done all season. We were very naive in the last 10 minutes. We could easily have handed the game to Man United because they have that individual quality and threat.

“A bit of stupidity from us, but it was good to get back in the game and keep pushing.

“We had another chance with Martin at the end. It was an end-to-end game and probably a fair point in the end,” Rice told the media after the match.
