2026 WCQ: Rohr picks Remo Stars goalie for Zimbabwe, South Africa games

Benin Republic head coach, Gernot Rohr, has included Remo Stars goalkeeper Serge Obassa in his final 23-man squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Zimbabwe and South Africa.

Obassa has featured regularly for Remo Stars in the Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL, this season.

The shot-stopper was first called up by Rohr for a 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against the Super Eagles of Nigeria last November.

Captain Steve MouniƩ, Junior Olaitan, Tijani Mohamed, and Dossou Jodel are some of the regulars included in the squad.

The Cheetahs will be away to the Warriors of Zimbabwe at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban on Thursday, March 20.

They will welcome Bafana Bafana of South Africa to Abidjan five days later.
