Invasion of business centre: Gov Otti orders Abia police commissioner to fish out perpetrators

The Abia State governor, Alex Otti, has said he was shocked by the news of the invasion and attack on a popular hospitality establishment in Umuahia, De Latinos Concept, on Sunday, which led to the destruction of property and injuries to innocent persons.

The governor has therefore directed the Commissioner of Police, Danladi Isa, to identify the perpetrators of the violence and bring them to justice.

In a statement signed by Ferdinand Ekeoma, the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Otti vowed that every individual involved in the attack would be prosecuted to serve as a deterrent to others who might consider engaging in similar acts in the future.

Deputy Governor Ikechukwu Emmett, who visited the scene and commiserated with the management and staff of De Latinos on behalf of the state government, was jointly received on arrival by the CEO of De Latinos and the State Commissioner of Police, CP Danladi Isa.

Emmett reassured that the government would take all necessary steps to protect investors and their investments in the state, vowing to get to the root of the matter.

Also speaking, the State Commissioner of Police, Danladi Isa, expressed regret over the incident, which he described as avoidable, and disclosed that officers involved had been arrested and were being interrogated.

He further stated that unpatriotic individuals would not be allowed to instil fear in innocent residents and business owners in the state.

On Sunday, some policemen, who allegedly invaded De Latinos on the invitation of a colleague, fired teargas, causing pandemonium that resulted in injuries to staff and customers of the entertainment outfit, while expensive music equipment was damaged in the chaos.
