EPL: Ratcliffe gives Amorim timelime to win title for Man Utd

Manchester United co-owner, Sir Jim Ratcliffe, has reiterated that he wants the Premier League club to win a Premier League title by 2028.

Ratcliffe’s latest comments come amid talk that the Red Devils had already given up on trying to be champions in time for the club’s 150th anniversary.

Upon his arrival at Old Trafford last summer, Chief executive, Omar Berrada announced that they had set his sights on lifting the title by 2028 to celebrate the landmark date.

However, amid United’s issues with the Premier League’s profit and sustainability rules, sky-high debt and struggles on the pitch, reality was said to have kicked in.

The board believes Ruben Amorim is working “with his hands tied behind his back”, having inherited a poor squad.

But Ratcliffe has not given up on his ambition however.

“I don’t think it’s mission impossible. I think it’s good to have goals and objectives, Ratcliffe told BBC.

“If you look at Arsenal, if you look at Liverpool, if you look at the period of time it took them to get the house in order and get back to winning ways, that’s probably slightly on the short end of the spectrum. But it’s not impossible.”
