Gov Otti’s wife, NDLEA intervene in Abia woman’s drug crises

The wife of the Abia State governor, Mrs Priscilla Otti, and the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, have intervened in the case of Miss Glory Benjamin, who is suffering from a drug-induced mental health crisis.

A press statement from the office of the Governor’s wife on Tuesday stated that Mrs Otti reached out to the Commander of the NDLEA in Abia State, Mr Chidi Nnadi, to coordinate an intervention after a social media platform recently publicised Miss Benjamin’s poor condition on the streets of Asaba, Delta State.

The statement noted that doctors have confirmed the young woman is suffering from drug-induced mental illness caused by substances such as methamphetamine, cannabis, and cigarettes, which have severely impacted her mental and physical well-being.

It further stated that, on the directive of the governor’s wife, she has been admitted to a rehabilitation centre.IMG 20250311 WA0016

Speaking on the broader fight against drug abuse, NDLEA Commander in Abia State, Chidi Nnadi, revealed that 40 individuals are currently undergoing rehabilitation, 60 others are awaiting admission for drug-related health issues, while 40 drug traffickers have been successfully prosecuted in the state.
