Tiger Wood suffers fresh injury blow

American professional golfer Tiger Woods has suffered a fresh injury setback.

The 49-year-old is now set for another lengthy spell away from the PGA Tour.

He is also a doubt for the major season after rupturing his Achilles.

In a tweet on X on Tuesday, the former world No. 1 said: “As I began to ramp up my own training and practice at home, I felt a sharp pain in my left Achilles, which was deemed to be ruptured.

“This morning, Dr Charlton Stucken of the Hospital for Special Surgery in West Palm Beach, Florida, performed a minimally invasive Achilles tendon repair for a ruptured tendon.

“I am back home now and plan to focus on my recovery and rehab. Thank you for all the support.”

Woods last competed in an official PGA Tour event in July.

He has played a limited schedule in recent seasons due to injury.
