Benue: Gov Alia debunks dumping APC for SDP

Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State has said that he would not leave the All Progressives Congress, APC, for the Social Democratic Party, SDP.

In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Tersoo Kula, on Wednesday in Makurdi, the governor stated that he had never contemplated leaving the party that brought him to office.

Alia said those spreading such falsehoods on social media were merely attempting to sow discord between him and President Bola Tinubu.

“These actions not only wholly miss the mark, but they also reveal a significant lack of awareness regarding my bond with the president.

“The claims that I am considering a move to the Social Democratic Party, alongside Mallam Nasir El-Rufai and others, are completely baseless and lack any credible evidence,” he said.

According to the Catholic priest-turned-politician, as the leader of the party in Benue, he successfully revived APC, which had been on the brink of decline before the 2019 elections.

The governor asserted that attempts to undermine his leadership would fail miserably.
