President Zelenskyy hopeful war will end during Ramadan

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has expressed optimism that if the pressure from the United States on Russia is sufficient, the ongoing war may come to an end during the Ramadan season.

Zelenskyy stated this in a post on his official X handle on Thursday, shortly after observing Iftar.

He pointed out that Ukraine’s diplomatic efforts, along with those of its partners to bring peace closer, have coincided with Ramadan.

The president recalled that a successful meeting between Ukrainian and American diplomatic representatives, which took place earlier “in a Muslim country”, provided a platform for discussions on restoring peace.

“And it could turn out that if the pressure from the United States on Russia is sufficient, a real opportunity will emerge during Ramadan to begin taking strong diplomatic steps towards peace, to start developing a plan for truly ending the war and guaranteeing security.

“We in Ukraine hope that these international efforts will succeed and that silence in the skies, at sea, and on the frontlines will help bring peace closer. We are grateful to all our partners who support us,” Zelenskyy added.
