United States President Donald Trump has claimed that the US is engaged in “stupid trade,” rather than “free trade.”
Trump made this assertion on his Truth Social account on Thursday, stating that the entire world is exploiting the US.
This comes after he threatened to impose a 200 per cent tariff on alcohol products from France and other European countries, further escalating trade tensions among US allies.
“The U.S. doesn’t have free trade. We have ‘stupid trade.’ The entire world is ripping us off!” Trump wrote.
Prior to this message, Trump had also stated: “The European Union, one of the most hostile and abusive taxing and tariffing authorities in the World, which was formed for the sole purpose of taking advantage of the United States, has just put a nasty 50% tariff on Whisky.”
