Abia: Gov Otti holds meeting with security chiefs

The Abia State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to protecting the lives and property of the people of Abia and other residents.

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Security Matters, Navy Commodore MacDonald Ubah (retd.), stated this in an interview with the press alongside the commissioner of police after the monthly State Security Council meeting held on Thursday.

He described the security meeting as part of Governor Alex Ottiโ€™s proactive approach to maintaining law and order in the state.

Answering questions on the recent killing of a businessman from Arochukwu on his way back to the state, Ubah assured that security agencies are actively investigating the matter.

Also speaking, Abia State Commissioner of Police Danladi Isa emphasised that the purpose of the meeting was to assess the security situation in the state.

He described the security situation in Abia as peaceful, following strategic operations by various security agencies to maintain law and order as well as secure the lives and property of residents.

He noted that one of the meetings held in November last year led to special security operations across Aba, Umuahia, and other local government areas during the yuletide, which ensured a peaceful festive season.

Isa stated that the police command would continue to collaborate with other security agencies in the state to protect the lives and property of residents.
