NPFL: Abia Warriors captain returns from injury, targets victory against Insurance

Abia Warriors captain Augustine Njoku has returned to training after his injury layoff.

Njoku spent around three weeks on the sidelines due to a hamstring injury.

The defender expressed his delight at making a speedy recovery.

“I feel very good. You know, being out of the team for some weeks and now coming back to training—I feel very, very good, and I’m happy about that,” he told the club’s media.

“I’m not feeling any pain in the hamstring anymore, so it’s a good one. I really thank God for recovering so quickly. I can say all glory to God Almighty.”

Imama Amapakabo’s side will host Bendel Insurance in a matchday 29 fixture this weekend.

Njoku is optimistic that they will claim maximum points from the game.

“Bendel Insurance have improved lately, and we got maximum points at their home in Benin in the first round. I know they will come with everything to try and get a point here in Umuahia, but as I always say, no two games are the same,” he added.

“I believe we are going to return to winning ways, using the Bendel Insurance game on Sunday as the key start to our comeback.”
