Dele Alli picks up red 10 minutes into return to football

Dele Alli was sent off after just 10 minutes into his return to football.

Alli had to wait for two years to play again.

The former England midfielder finally made his debut for Como, after joining them in the January transfer window.

However, the 28-year-old was shown a straight red card during Saturday’s clash against AC Milan.

The referee had initially brandished a yellow card for Alli’s foul on Ruben Loftus-Cheek in stoppage time.

But it was eventually upgraded to a red card after a VAR review.

Alli’s former England team-mate, Kyle Walker, appeared to plead with the referee to reconsider his decision, seemingly feeling sorry for his highly anticipated comeback to football.

Before now, Alli’s last match came in February 2023, where he played for Besiktas in a goalless draw against Antalyaspor.
