EPL: Onuachu disappointed with Southampton’s defeat to Wolves

Nigeria striker, Paul Onuachu can’t hide his disappointment following another defeat for Southampton.

The Saints went down 2-1 to Wolverhampton Wanderers at the St Mary’s Stadium on Saturday.

It was Ivan Juric’s side fifth consecutive defeat.

Onuachu rose from the bench to score Southampton’s only goal of the game.

The 30-year-old said it was difficult not to get something out of the game despite their brave effort.

“It’s difficult scoring my first goal in front of the [home] fans and we’re losing, it’s not good enough and we need to do better as a team and individually,” he told the club’s official website.

“We had a good start in the first 20 minutes but it’s difficult to explain this loss because we’re playing on our home ground and we had the feeling we were going to beat Wolves.”

“You could see we were the better team, even though we lost. It’s just not good enough,” he added.

Onuachu has scored thrice in 17 league appearances for the South Coast club this season.
