The Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA) has dismissed social media allegations that the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, is working to Islamise Nigeria.
In a statement issued in Abuja, Imam Haroun Muhammad Eze, Deputy National Legal Adviser of NSCIA, denounced the claims as false, baseless, and misleading.
He clarified that the Sultan has been out of the country for the past two weeks and could not have made such remarks.
Eze stressed that the Sultan leads a diverse Muslim community encompassing Nigerians of all ethnic backgrounds and described the allegation as unthinkable.
While the NSCIA typically refrains from engaging with misinformation, it felt compelled to address the matter to prevent misunderstandings.
