Two PDP lawmakers defect to APC amid party crisis

Two members of the House of Representatives have defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Hon. Jallo Hussaini Mohammed, representing Igabi Federal Constituency of Kaduna State, and Hon. Adamu Tanko, representing Gurara/Suleja/Tafa Federal Constituency of Niger State, announced their defection to the APC today.

The Speaker of the House, Tajudden Abbas, read the defection letters of the lawmakers in the chamber this morning, formally announcing their move from their former party to their new party.

Among the reasons they cited for their defection was the internal crisis within the PDP, which they said had made it impossible for them to remain in the party.

The Speaker welcomed them and urged other lawmakers, especially members of the APC, to receive them warmly.
