Nigeria legend Segun ‘mathematical’ Odegbami has congratulated Victor Osimhen for beating his Super Eagles goals record.
Osimhen surpassed Odegbami’s record after netting a brace in Nigeria’s 2-0 victory over the Amavubi of Rwanda on Friday.
The 26-year-old is now Nigeria’s second all-time top scorer with 25 goals—two ahead of Odegbami.
The Galatasaray forward is just 12 goals shy of the legendary Rashidi Yekini’s record of 37.
“On behalf of the entire Eagles squad of 1980, I congratulate Nigeria for the incredible victory in Kigali and Victor Osimhen for his individual achievement,” Odegbami commended.
“Supreme goal scorer and centre-forward Victor Osimhen surpassed my record of 23 goals in 46 matches for the country.”
