2026 WCQ: We learnt important lessons against Nigeria that’ll help us – Rwanda’s Omborenga

Rwanda defender, Fitina Omborenga has insisted that his team learned important lessons during their defeat against Nigeria that will help them in the remaining matches of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

Recall that Nigeria defeated Rwanda 2-0 in the 2026 World Cup qualifier on Friday evening.

Victor Osimhen scored the two goals in the first-half to give the Super Eagles all three points against the hosts in Kigali.

Speaking to Flashscore, Omborenga also called on his teammates to move on and focus on their next game against Lesotho on Tuesday.

“We are disappointed by the defeat to Nigeria because it does not truly reflect how we played,” Omborenga said.

“We approached the match with the ambition to win and stay at the top of the group, but unfortunately, we ended up losing.

“The first-half goals scored by the Nigerians unsettled us, and we struggled a bit in the second half. Our fans are disappointed with the result.

“We have managed to learn some important lessons that will help us in the upcoming qualification matches.

“Our coach [Adel Amrouche] did not hide his disappointment with the result, but we have moved on, and our focus is now on our next game on Tuesday,” he said.
