2026 WCQ: Why Argentina beat us 4-1 – Brazil coach, Dorival Junior

Brazil coach Dorival Junior has explained why his team lost 4-1 against Argentina in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier on Tuesday.

Junior watched as Argentina humiliated Brazil 4-1 in Buenos Aires after goals from Julián Álvarez, Enzo Fernández, Alexis Mac Allister, and Giuliano Simeone.

Speaking at his post-match interview, Junior said his team’s plan didn’t work from the first minute of the encounter to the end against Lionel Scaloni’s side.

“Our plan for today’s match didn’t work from the first minute. I have to recognize what happened, how our rival outplayed us, and they deservedly got the victory,” Brazil coach Dorival Junior said.

“It’s a significant defeat, and we are in a complicated, difficult process. But I have no doubt that we’ll find a way out.”

The result leaves Brazil in fourth position with 21 points.

Argentina, meanwhile, tops the South American standings with 31 points from 14 matches.

Scaloni’s men were assured of their World Cup berth after Bolivia’s 0-0 draw with Uruguay earlier on Tuesday.
