2026 WCQ: Super Eagles players leave Nigeria after 1-1 draw with Zimbabwe

Players in the Super Eagles squad have begun flying out of Nigeria following a 1-1 draw with Zimbabwe in a 2026 World Cup qualifier on Tuesday.

Some of the players based in the UK, like Ola Aina, Alex Iwobi and Calvin Bassey, were spotted at the airport on Wednesday morning.

Genk forward Tolu Arokodare was also seen ready to jet out.

The players are returning to their clubs ahead of the final games of the current season.

The next international break will be in September during the 2025/2026 campaign.

Nigeria played out a 1-1 draw with Zimbabwe at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium.

Victor Osimhen had opened the scoring before Tawanda Chirewa grabbed a late equalizer for the visitors.

The result leaves Eric Chelle’s men in real danger of missing out on a place at the World Cup.
