The Lagos State Government has issued a travel advisory ahead of the All Progressives Congress (APC) mega rally scheduled for Tuesday at Teslim Balogun Stadium in Lagos. The announcement was made on Sunday by Mr. Bolaji Oreagba, General Manager of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, in an official statement.
Mr. Oreagba explained that a procession will carry the APC presidential candidate, party stalwarts, faithful members, and supporters from the local airport to Teslim Balogun Stadium via Mobolaji Bank Anthony Way and Ikorodu Road. The route will pass through Idi‑Iroko, Anthony, Obanikoro, Onipanu, Fadeyi, Jibowu (Empire), Moshalashi, Ojuelegba, Barracks, and the stadium. Motorists are urged to use alternative routes during the procession.
For those traveling from the local airport to Maryland, the recommended detour is Kodesoh, Obafemi Awolowo Way, Kudirat Abiola Way, Old Oregun Road, Ojota, and Maryland before proceeding to their destinations. For travel from the airport to Ketu‑Mile 12, motorists should use Kodesoh, Obafemi Awolowo Way, Secretariat Road, Mobolaji Johnson Avenue (7‑Up), and the Ojota Interchange (Ketu) to reach their endpoints. While the main carriageway on Ikorodu Road will be occupied by the procession, the service lane will remain open for motorists.
To minimize inconvenience and travel time before and during the procession, the following alternative routes are suggested:
– From Ikorodu to Lagos and Lagos‑Ibadan Expressway to Lagos/Oshodi: use Old Toll Gate, Alapere (Ogudu, Iyana Oworo, Third Mainland Bridge) and connect to the destination.
– From Apapa‑Oshodi Expressway to Lagos: use Oshodi Bridge, Anthony Bridge, Gbagada, Iyana Oworo, and Third Mainland Bridge.
– From Ojuelegba to Surulere: use Lawanson‑Itire Road, Ogunlana Drive, Akerele, Shitta Roundabout, Adeniran Ogunsanya, Bode Thomas, Masha, Adelabu, Census, Babs Animashaun, Doyin, Eric Moore, Abebe Village, Nigerian Breweries, Costain, and connect to the destination.
– From Masha to Kilo, and from Costain to Surulere: travel via Costain, Iponri Estate, Bode Thomas, or via Costain to Abebe Village, Eric Moore, Doyin, Bode Thomas, Babs Animashaun, Census, and Adelabu in Masha.
In order to reduce inconvenience, shorten travel time, and ensure the safety and security of all road users, adequate security and law‑enforcement personnel will be deployed along the dedicated routes to the stadium and on the alternative roads. The authority requests the cooperation of all road users and apologizes for any inconvenience caused.
