Security tightened in Benue as police deploy officers for Eid celebration

The Benue State Police Command has deployed officers to strategic locations across the state to ensure a peaceful Eid-el-Fitr celebration.

In a statement issued on Sunday in Makurdi, the command’s spokesperson, SP Sewuese Anene announced that the Commissioner of Police (CP), Steve Yabanet, ordered the deployment to maintain security during the festivities.

According to Anene, all area commanders, divisional police officers, and tactical commanders have been directed to provide tight security within their jurisdictions.

“They are to focus on prayer grounds, recreational centers, markets, motor parks, and other public places where large gatherings are expected. Criminals are warned to desist from unlawful activities or face the full wrath of the law,” she stated.

The commissioner of police also extended his best wishes to the Muslim faithful, urging them to celebrate peacefully.
