EPL: Brentford announces Kayode’s return to squad

Brentford have announced the return of Nigeria-eligible full-back Michael Kayode.

The Bees’ manager, Thomas Frank, confirmed that the defender is fit to return for their match against Newcastle United on Wednesday.

Media Talk Africa reports that Kayode joined the Premier League side from Fiorentina in the January transfer window.

He made the move after winning the 2024 Best Italian Golden Boy award.

The 20-year-old has missed Brentford’s last two Premier League fixtures against Aston Villa and Bournemouth.

Speaking to the press on Tuesday, Frank reassured fans that the youngster would be available for selection against Newcastle.

“The squad looks quite positive,” said Frank, according to Brentford’s official website.
“Michael Kayode is back in, but Mathias [Jensen] is not ready yet. There was some illness there, which means he has missed some training.”

The news could provide a major boost for Brentford, as Frank looks to reinforce his defensive options ahead of the season’s final stages.
