Di Matteo picks Super Eagles striker Chelsea should sign

Former Chelsea manager Roberto Di Matteo has urged the Blues to pursue either Newcastle United’s Alexander Isak or Victor Osimhen this summer, insisting the club desperately needs a prolific striker.

Speaking to Ladbrokes, the 2012 Champions League-winning manager stressed Chelsea require a forward capable of delivering 20-25 goals per season to mount a serious title challenge.

When assessing Chelsea’s attacking options, Di Matteo remarked: “I rate Nicolas Jackson highly – he’s a player with tremendous potential. However, Chelsea need a striker who can guarantee 25 goals a season if they aspire to win the Premier League.

“This isn’t to criticise Jackson. In fact, signing another top striker would provide the option to play with two up front when needed.”

The Italian specifically highlighted the two targets: “Alexander Isak has proven his Premier League credentials at Newcastle. Alternatively, there’s Victor Osimhen – a world-class striker who’s already been linked with Chelsea.”

Isak, also reportedly preferred by Arsenal, has enjoyed an outstanding campaign with 23 goals and 5 assists in 33 appearances for Newcastle. Meanwhile, 26-year-old Osimhen has registered 26 goals and 5 assists in 31 games for Napoli this season.
