Your days are numbered – Military high command tells Bello Turji

The military high command issued a stern warning to notorious bandit kingpin Kachalla Bello Turji on Thursday, stating that his days are numbered.

The statement came after Turji’s recent attack on farmers in Lugu town, Isa Local Government Area of Sokoto State, where he killed 11 individuals.

The attack reportedly took place shortly after Turji returned from a Sallah visit to a community in Isa.

During a press briefing at the Defence Headquarters, Major-General Markus Kangye, Director of Defence Media Operations, responded to questions regarding the military’s ongoing operations.

He dismissed claims that the military had downscaled its efforts against herdsmen, terrorists, and cattle rustlers, emphasizing that operations are still very much active.

“Like I read out, troops intercepted some trucks loaded with cows, and they recovered them, and they are still on the hunt for high-value terrorists,” Kangye said.

Addressing the specific case of Turji, Kangye stated, “As for Bello Turji, it is just a matter of time, an appointment will be fixed with him by his maker.” He assured that efforts to neutralize high-profile terrorists in the region are ongoing.

Kangye also commented on the withdrawal of Niger Republic from the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF), warning of significant security implications if any country were to leave the force.

He explained, “The Multinational Joint Task Force was established by the Lake Chad Commission countries to address their common security concerns.” He further stressed that any departure from the task force would weaken the collective security efforts in the region.

Regarding concerns about the welfare of injured troops, Kangye denied allegations of neglect, reiterating the military’s commitment to supporting its soldiers wounded in action.

He assured hat the military would continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as necessary.
