De Bruyne reason Man Utd didn’t win trophies in many years – Bruno Fernandes

Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has suggested that Manchester City playmaker Kevin De Bruyne is a key reason why the Red Devils have struggled to win trophies in recent years.

Fernandes made the remark following United’s 0-0 draw with City in the Premier League on Sunday.

The Portuguese midfielder praised the Belgian for elevating the standard of the Premier League, insisting that he deserves full credit for his contributions.

“Kevin De Bruyne made the Premier League better,” Fernandes told Sky Sports.

“If Man City are where they are and Manchester United haven’t won as many trophies in this period, it’s also because of Kevin De Bruyne. He deserves all the credit — he’s been fantastic.”

This comes in the wake of De Bruyne’s recent announcement that he will depart Manchester City at the end of the season.

The 33-year-old is set to leave Pep Guardiola’s side as a free agent after a decade of distinguished service with the reigning Premier League champions.

Manchester United, meanwhile, last lifted the Premier League title in 2013, under the stewardship of the legendary Sir Alex Ferguson.
