Stop Plateau killings now – ACF tells Nigerian govt

The Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) has expressed deep sorrow and strong condemnation over the recent deadly attacks on communities in Plateau State. The attacks left many people dead, including children, and caused serious destruction.

In a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Professor Tukur A. Muhammad-Baba, the ACF said these attacks reflect the worsening security situation in Nigeria, especially in the northern region.

The Forum called on the Federal Government to declare a state of emergency in areas affected by banditry and urged the government to set up early-warning and quick response systems to help prevent such tragedies.

The ACF also called for better intelligence gathering and legal action against those responsible for the attacks.

They emphasized the need for compensation for the families of victims and medical support for the injured. Additionally, the Forum stressed the importance of supporting community leaders, religious figures, and civil groups to promote peace and dialogue.

They also highlighted the need for greater accountability from the National Assembly and security agencies.

The ACF encouraged citizens to help by reporting credible information about criminal and terrorist activities.

While showing support for the Federal Government, Plateau State officials, and security forces, the ACF stressed the need for urgent and united action to tackle the growing security crisis that is putting the lives and future of Nigerians at risk.
