Serie A: Atalanta boss Gasperini admits error in Lookman’s substitution vs Lazio

Atalanta manager Gian Piero Gasperini admitted that Ademola Lookman was mistakenly substituted in the club’s 1-0 defeat to Lazio.

Lookman was replaced in the 75th minute of the encounter.

Gasperini claimed it was Brazilian defender, Ederson that was to be substituted.

The Italian could do nothing about the substitution after Lookman’s number was raised on the electronic board.

The defeat put a dent on Atalanta’s title chances.

“There was a mistake. Only Retegui was subbed to come off,” Gasp told DAZN (via Football Italia) after the game.

“Unfortunately, there was a misunderstanding between ‘Ede’ [Ederson] and ‘Ade’ [Lookman] and we paid a high price for it.”
