Adhere to fire preventive measures – Police warn Kano residents

The Kano State Police Command have urged the public to exercise caution and adhere to preventive measures to mitigate risks of fire outbreaks.

This was contained in a press statement signed by the spokesman of the command SP. Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, issued to Media Talk Africa.

He said the warning became necessary due to recent fire incidents at some locations, including companies, market places, residential homes and a gas station.

Kano State Police Command in liaison with the Federal and State Fire Services provided emergency responses to save lives and protect property

According to the statement, ”citizens should ensure that fire extinguishers are installed at accessible locations in homes, offices, and regularly inspect electrical appliances, wiring, and gas cylinders to prevent potential fire hazards.

Also, ”people should switch off electrical appliances in offices at closing and in homes when not in use to prevent overheating and potential fires and Develop a fire evacuation plan and conduct regular drills to ensure preparedness in case of a fire emergency”

The command also advised people to immediately report any fire incidents or suspicious activities to the nearest police station or emergency services.
