Kawu Sumaila confirms defection to APC, cites commitment to constituents

Senator Suleiman Abdulrahman Kawu Sumaila, who represents the Kano South Senatorial District, has officially confirmed his departure from the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, putting an end to weeks of political speculation.

In a statement shared via his social media platform on Wednesday, the Senator affirmed his decision, stating, “Yes, it is true — the rumors regarding my defection are accurate.”

He underscored that his political moves are rooted in a deep sense of duty to his constituents.

“All politics is local, and my primary concern has always been, and remains, the welfare of my immediate constituency,” Kawu Sumaila said.

Reaffirming his dedication to public service, he pledged to continue championing the interests of the people of Kano South, promising to prioritize their needs and aspirations in his ongoing political journey.
