BREAKING: PDP NWC holds emergency meeting in Abuja over defection

The National Working Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has commenced an emergency meeting at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja.

The meeting, which is currently being held behind closed doors on Tuesday, follows a wave of defections sweeping through the ranks and strongholds of the opposition party, as well as the ongoing internal crises plaguing PDP.

Media Talk Africa reports that PDP’s former vice-presidential candidate, Ifeanyi Okowa, and the Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, defected last week to the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.

They are reported to have collapsed the opposition party’s structure in Delta State, as the Deputy Governor, Monday Onyeme, along with state commissioners, local government chairmen, and the grassroots political machinery of the state, moved en bloc to APC following a closed-door meeting in Asaba.
