Wike’s ally, Ortom inaugurated PDP Board of Trustees member

The immediate past Governor of Benue State, Samuel Ortom, was on Monday inaugurated as a member of the Board of Trustees, BOT, of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

Ortom, who will be representing Benue State on the party’s highest advisory body, joins the BOT at a time the PDP is making efforts to reposition itself ahead of 2027 elections.

His induction shows his continued relevance within the party’s national structure, especially as a key ally of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike.

Both men were central figures in the G-5 Governors, also known as the Integrity Group, which challenged the PDP’s zoning formula in the run-up to the 2023 general elections.

The meeting was chaired by Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State, who also serves as the Chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum.

Other notable party stalwarts in attendance were PDP acting National Chairman, Umar Damagum, BoT Secretary and former Kaduna State Governor, Ahmed Makarfi, as well as several former governors: Bukola Saraki, Aminu Tambuwal, Sule Lamido, Udom Emmanuel, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, Olagunsoye Oyinlola, Seriake Dickson, Babangida Muazu, and Adamu Muazu.
