SON Boosts Quality Assurance in Nigeria’s Industrial Landscape with MANCAP Certification

In a significant move to enhance the quality and reliability of products in Nigeria’s industrial landscape, the Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON) has reaffirmed its commitment to enforcing compliance and product integrity. This commitment was underscored during the presentation of the Mandatory Conformity Assessment Programme (MANCAP) certificate to Segmax Oil Nigeria Limited, a leading lubricant manufacturing company.

SON’s Director General, Dr. Ifeanyi Chukwunonso Okeke, represented by the Kwara State coordinator, Mr. Ayeni Feyisayo, emphasized the agency’s determination to bolster consumer trust in locally manufactured goods. Dr. Okeke noted that the monitoring of compliance levels will become even more stringent following product certification, indicating a robust approach to maintaining high standards.

The MANCAP certification awarded to Segmax Oil Nigeria Limited is seen as a landmark achievement, symbolizing the company’s unwavering commitment to excellence and quality assurance. According to Dr. Okeke, this certification marks a significant milestone in Segmax’s pursuit of standardization in the Nigerian lubricant market, reflecting the company’s dedication to producing high-quality products that meet or exceed national standards.

Dolapo Mariam Motunrayo, Head of the Chemical Technology Unit at SON’s Kwara office, highlighted that the certification is merely the beginning of a long-term partnership centered on rigorous quality control. She emphasized, “With all your products now certified under MANCAP, our relationship is just starting. We will monitor compliance even more closely, as this certification remains valid until 2028. We look forward to ongoing engagements through product and test certifications, solidifying our mutual commitment to quality.”

The Chairman of Segmax Oil Nigeria Limited, Engineer Jesuwumi Oluwasegun Mathew, and the Managing Director, Mrs. Jesuwumi OluwaFunmilayo Florence, expressed their gratitude to SON for the guidance and support provided throughout the certification process. Their appreciation underscores the collaborative spirit between regulatory bodies and manufacturers in Nigeria, aiming to elevate the standards of locally produced goods and reinforce consumer confidence.

This development signals a positive trajectory for Nigeria’s industrial sector, with a heightened focus on compliance, quality, and consumer protection. As SON continues to push for higher standards across the board, the expectation is that more manufacturers will follow in Segmax’s footsteps, embracing the challenge of meeting rigorous national standards and contributing to a more reliable and trustworthy market for consumers.
