NDLEA Arrests 36 Suspects Seizes Illicit Drugs in Kano Ahead of Eid-el-Kabir Celebrations

As the Eid-el-Kabir celebrations approach, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Kano State has taken proactive measures to ensure a safe and drug-free environment for the festivities. In a two-day operation conducted on May 30 and 31, the agency arrested 36 individuals and seized various types of illicit drugs. The raids, which targeted areas such as Makabartar Dan’agundi, Kwari, Kofar Na’isa, and Kano Line, were led by the state commander of the NDLEA, Mr. Abubakar Idris-Ahmad.

According to the agency’s spokesperson, Sadiq Muhammad-Maigatari, the operation was a resounding success, with the recovery of substances including cannabis sativa, ‘suck and die’, diazepam, and rubber solution. The agency’s efforts are aimed at promoting a peaceful and responsible celebration of the Eid-el-Kabir festivities, free from the influence of drugs. The NDLEA’s actions demonstrate their commitment to tackling the issue of drug abuse and trafficking in the state.

The state commander, Mr. Idris-Ahmad, praised the officers who participated in the raid and urged the people of Kano to celebrate the Eid-el-Kabir responsibly. He also extended warm wishes to the community for a safe and enjoyable celebration, on behalf of the agency’s Chairman and CEO, Brigadier General Mohamed Buba Marwa (Retired). Additionally, Mr. Idris-Ahmad cautioned against the sale and use of drugs, encouraging residents to report any drug-related activities to the authorities.
