2027: Forming new political party best approach for coalition - LND convener, Ardo

The Convener of the League of Northern Democrats, LND, Umar Ardo, has said that forming a new political party is the best way for the coalition to unseat President Bola Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress, APC.

Prominent opposition politicians are engaged in talks over plans to form a coalition to challenge Tinubu and the APC in 2027.

Ardo spoke on Wednesday when he appeared on ‘The Morning Show’, a programme on Arise Television.

“Predominant members and even leaders of the coalition support merging into an existing political party.

“However, another group, which I belong to, believes that registering a new political party for the coalition is the better approach.

“We insist that our approach to establishing a new political party is the best option, and we find the argument for merging into another party unconvincing,” he said.
