American rapper, Silento sentenced to 30 years in prison for murder

American singer, Silento has bagged 30 years imprisonment for killing his cousin.

The 27-year-old musician was sentenced after pleading guilty to possession of a firearm and aggravated assault.

Media Talk Africa reports that in 2021, Silento confessed to have shot his 34-year-old
cousin, Frederick Rooks III dead.

DeKalb County Police Department had found Rooks with multiple gunshot wounds in Jan. 21, 2021.

Before the singer’s arrest, investigation revealed that the deceased was last seen together with Silento in a white BMW SUV.

Minutes after the gunfire, the same white BMW SUV was captured fleeing the scene of the incident at high speed on a neighbour’s home security footage.

Reacting to Silento’s arrest, Chanel Hudson, his PR manager in a statement claimed that the rapper “has been suffering from series of mental health illnesses for the past several years”.

Prior to the shooting, the rapper was charged with two counts of assault in August 2020, after he allegedly attacked two people with a hatchet in their home.

Speaking in 2019 during an interview on the medical talk show ‘The Doctors’, Silento said “I have been fighting demons my whole life. I don’t know if these demons will ever go away.”
