Residents of Doma Local Government Area in Nasarawa State have expressed their frustration over the late arrival of election materials for the presidential and National Assembly elections. This delay significantly impacted the commencement of election processes in many polling units throughout the area. Our correspondent visited the Sanke polling unit in the Galadima electoral ward at 9:40 AM and found that accreditation and voting had not yet begun. Despite this, voters were eager to check their names at the polling stations as they awaited the start of the exercise.

One resident, Hamza Ahmed, shared his concerns with our correspondent, stating, “The late arrival of election materials has really affected us in Doma LGA. So many voters are waiting for the process to start. We hope that the Independent National Electoral Commission will intervene on our behalf.” Reports indicate that voters gathered in large numbers at the Angwan Aya polling unit in Doma LGA, but the election process had yet to commence due to connectivity issues with the Biometric Data Capturing Machines, which were hampered by poor internet service in the area.

At Doma North Primary School, the election process also faced delays because of the late arrival of materials, and officials had not yet begun the accreditation process. Nevertheless, our correspondent noted that voters were waiting patiently as INEC officials worked to sort out the materials in the area.

In terms of security, well-dressed and gallant personnel were present at all the polling units visited, ensuring orderliness and the safety of voters, INEC officials, and voting materials. Movement restrictions in Doma town were minimal, with people seen in clusters discussing the voting process.
