Labour Party lawmaker in House of Reps, Chimaobi Atu dumps party for APC

Lawmaker, Chimaobi Sam Atu, representing Enugu North and South in the House of Representatives, has defected from the Labour Party, LP, to the the All Progressives Congress, APC.

Atu’s defection was contained in a letter sent to the House of Representatives on Thursday.

Speaker Tajudeen Abbas announced the decision of the lawmaker at plenary today.

“Honourable colleagues, it’s my pleasure and privilege to inform you that our dear brother and colleague, Hon. Chimaobi Sam Atu, member representing Enugu North and South, today has sent a letter and the letter is in respect of the defection from Labour Party to the All Progressives Congress,” Abbas said.

Earlier this week, two members of the House of Representatives dumped their opposition parties for the APC.

Peter Akpanke of Obanliku/Obudu/Bekwara Federal Constituency in Cross River State, left the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, for the APC while Paul Nnamchi from Enugu East/Isi-Uzo Federal Constituency in Enugu State also dumped the Labour Party for the ruling APC.
