Obi defeats Tinubu in Lagos

The presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi has won the presidential election in Lagos State.

According to the final results declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, on Monday showed that Mr Obi secured 582,454 votes to defeat his closest opponent Mr Tinubu who got 572,606 votes.

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, came a distant third in the exercise with 75,750 votes.

DAILY NIGERIAN reports that Lagos is the state that is considered one of the strongholds of Mr Tinubu.
